摘要
Electrochemical dissolution of silicon in hydrofluoric acid results in a porous material with an interconnected network of nanocrystalline silicon. This complicated microstructure of porous silicon gives rise to novel room temperature luminescence in the visible and near infrared region. Photoluminescence is so far the most widely studied property of porous silicon. In this paper, the complex interdependence of this novel luminescence property on electrochemical process and the resulting microstructure of porous silicon will be highlighted.
