摘要
The behavior of colloidal systems is often controlled by electrostatic interactions. Published studies deal mostly with uniformly charged particles; nonuniformly charged objects require a more complicated treatment, Here, we describe a boundary element method developed to study the interaction between a sphere with a nonuniform surface charge and a charged plate. By means of a simple example, we show that charge heterogeneity has a dramatic effect on the interaction energy, (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
