DISTORTED E'1 CENTERS IN CRYSTALLINE QUARTZ - AN APPLICATION TO ESR DATING OF FAULT MOVEMENTS

摘要
A broad signal of E'1 centers created in crystalline quartz powdered by crushing is rather unstable at 300-degrees-C, while that by gamma-ray irradiation after crushing is thermally stable at 300-degrees-C. The intensity of the latter centers was enhanced by gamma-ray irradiation. The E' signal having its linewidth of about 0.05 mT, broader than that of 0.01 mT in the case of normal E' centers, is associated with ''distorted E' centers''. The signal may be utilized in ESR dating of fault movement.
