OBSERVATION OF TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENT CR-3+ ND-3+ SENSITIZATION IN FLUORIDE GLASSES

摘要
Absorption and excitation spectra of two fluoride glasses doped with Cr3+ and Nd3+ ions were used to determine the Cr-Nd sensitization efficiency. The efficiency was found to be strongly temperature dependent, with a room temperature value of zero. A nonradiative mechanism based on changes in the local environment, which occurs when the Cr3+ ions is in the excited state, is suggested to be the cause of the low efficiency.
