A survey is presented on the cultivation of algae in laboratories which serve as a basis for tests, and standardization. Equipment is presented, the use of which is suggested for toxicological alga testing. By means of modifying the equipment for single cultivation of the American standard (Miller et al. 1978) an alga test, evaluated in 4 days, can be carried out. The advantages of the shorter experimentation time are that the hazard of infection during testing is decreased, a shorter time is allowed for the pesticides to decompose, the costs of testing can be decreased.
