Sugar beet, the Domona variety, has been studied for four years in Caslav in the field stationary crop rotation. Differentiated demand of nutrition was confirmed for maximum yield formation of roots in contrast to high sugar content. Gradated nitrogen application rates increased not only nitrogen concentration in roots and leaves but at the same time also potassium concentration. Highly significant correlation was determined between nitrogen and potassium concentration and root sugar content. A deficit in phosphorus negatively affected also sugar content. The maximum root yield was obtained when nitrogen was applied at a rate of 160 kg per ha. Manuring and phosphorous-potassium fertilizing was sufficient for the highest sugar content, yield, and refined sugar yield in the given conditions. Nitrogen withdrawal by sugar beet (root + leaves) was 165 kg per ha in this variant. Nitrogen withdrawal was 287 kg per ha at the maximum root yield.
