STRUCTURE AND INTERATOMIC PAIR POTENTIALS FOR FE80B20 METALLIC-GLASS

摘要
The interatomic pair potentials for the archetypal transition metal-mmetalloid metallic glass Fe80B20 have been obtained from the experimental partial structure factors. These potentials exhibit the oscillatory form already observed by us for several other metallic glasses. They have been used in structural relaxation calculations on a small 530 atom cluster. The results, which are comparable with equivalent studies using standard potentials on larger arrays, predict a splitting of the second peak in GFeFe(r) and of the first peak in GBB(r). They are consistent with strong chemical bonding between iron and boron. © 1990.
