INHERITANCE OF BROWN PLANTHOPPER NILAPARVATA-LUGENS (STAL) RESISTANCE IN 4 RICE VARIETIES IN BANGLADESH

Inheritance of resistance to brown planthopper (BPH) in four rice varieties was studied at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute. Rice seedlings at one leaf stage were screened by artificial Infestation with second and third instar nymphs. Reactions of the seedlings were recorded when the plants of the susceptible check died. Results indicated that a single recessive gene in ARC10550, two complementary dominant genes In ARC6650 and a single dominant gene in both Swarnalata and T27A control the resistance to brown planthopper in Bangladesh.
