The limits of the curriculum and the problems of technical education

摘要
This paper brings an analysis about the modifications in the UFSC's mechanical engineering course aiming to fit in the curriculum guidelines proposed by resolution 11/02 - CES/CNE with emphasis in the social, humanistic and political aspects. Therefore, it was performed a bibliographic review of the literature on engineering about the teaching, its methods and theoretical background. In addition, an analysis about the curricular guidelines, the educational project and the curriculum was also performed. Based on this, the paper clearly evidences the measures adopted by the commission were not enough to tackle the structural problems, merely issuing recommendations to fit to the resolution of the National Education Board.
