EXHAUST AIR DECONTAMINATION AND SEWAGE CLARIFICATION METHODS IN VULCANIZING PLANTS

The procedures nitrite oxidation, denitrification and evaporation are being discussed in connection with sewage clarification for salt bath vulcanizing plants. Results obtained in laboratory tests show that denitrification enables to eliminate the existing nitrite and nitrate to a large extent and at very low operation costs. Exhaust air decontamination plants on vulcanizing ovens and continuous vulcanizing plants realized at Phoenix AG are being presented. These plants consist of electro-filters and a combination of electro-filters provided with a scourer and a charcoal-filter respectively. Moreover, first results from semi-technical tests aiming at evaporation clarification on autoclave vulcanization are being presented.
