摘要
Cold drawing of polymeric fibres exhibiting rate and temperature dependent material properties is studied for steady-state loading conditions. A rigid-plastic flow theory law which incorporates both material strain-rate sensitivity and thermal softening properties is employed. The destabilizing effect of deformation-induced heating is investigated where the thermomechanical response is assumed to take place under adiabatic conditions. The interplay between the stabilizing effect of material strain-rate sensitivity and destabilizing influence of deformation-induced heating is examined through various parametric studies. © 1990.
