摘要：
The general principles of X-ray investigation of spherical viruses are described. The structure crystalline carnation mottle virus (CMtV) was determined at 3.5-Angstrom resolution. The distinguishing features of CMtV structure were demonstrated which may help in understanding the process of virion self-assembly as well as the place of CMtV in evolution.
