The processes of territorial associativity can lead to regionalization projects at different scales. In the past, factors such as connectivity, accessibility and proximity were essential for urban positioning. In the current glocalization they are insufficient and lead to post-Fordist urban developments. The ideology of competitiveness applied to the territory led to different types of strategies to seduce and attract capital. The region emerges as the territorial form which allows entry to the "market of places" belonging to the global world. The promotion of regions is a strategy to strengthen identity as an answer to globalization, and it attracts activities and population. Not all cities are successful but the involvement of agents and the paradoxical combination of competitiveness and associativity can correct distortions. Here, we analyse the case of the Weimar "cityregion" where the strategic regionalism emerges as one of the ways of urban reproduction.
