摘要
In order to understand the characteristics of thermocapillary convection in the annular two-layer systems, a set of two-dimensional numerical simulations was carried out using the finite-volume method for the system of gallium arsenide and boron oxide with the aspect ratio 4, in a differentially heated annular pool with the outer heated cylinder and the inner cooled cylinder. The results show that liquid encapsulation can effectively suppress thermocapillary convection in the melt. When the buoyancy is considered, thermocapillary convection is reduced in liquid encapsulation, but enhanced in the melt.
