N-Containing carbon nanotubes were prepared by the pyrolysis of acetonitrile in an alumina matrix. Nanotubes were obtained with given diameter and length. Amorphous carbon is also formed on the alumina surface in the acetonitrile pyrolysis. ©2002 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
