Stokes polarimeter using rotator-retarder-rotator configuration is proposed in place of a rotating-retarder configuration. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to find the optimum angle of rotations of the proposed configuration. An experiment was conducted with the proposed configuration using magneto-optic Faraday rotator. The results obtained were compared with the rotating retarder configuration. The least square deviations of the measured polarization parameters show that rotator-retarder-rotator configuration is less sensitive to measurement errors. © Optical Society of India 2009.
