摘要
A significant fraction of lunar exploration is concerned with the lunar regolith. Over the last three decades, theoretical and experimental effort has been directed towards investigating the mechanical parameters and chemical composition of lunar regolith. However, the properties of lunar regolith flow have received only limited attention, even though there have been reports of lunar avalanches. In this paper, the flow evolution of a lunar regolith simulant at various inclined angles was investigated in a rectangular-shaped flume constructed of Plexiglas. The objective of this paper is to study the flow patterns of lunar regolith simulant by using a fast-shutter-speed (1/140 s) CCD camera (640 × 480 pixels). Configurations of the flow under the action of different chute angles are captured. In addition, the engineering strains of the different chute angles are also calculated. The research results help to investigate the real lunar regolith flow slide to some extent.
