The effect of rotation on the onset of transient Soret-driven buoyancy convection in a porous layer saturated by a nanofluid

The effect of rotation on the onset of Soret-driven buoyancy convection in an initially quiescent, horizontal fluid saturated porous layer with nanoparticles suspensions heated from above is analyzed theoretically using linear theory and relative stability concept. In the case of large negative Soret coefficient with high solute Rayleigh–Darcy number, the convective motion sets in during the transient diffusion stage and the onset time of this motion is analyzed using the dominant mode method. It is found that the rotation inhibits the onset of convection.
