In the paper, 4.5G dendritic polyamidoamine (PAMAM) with methoxycarbonyl terminal groups is used as template to synthesize TiO2 nanoparticles. The result of transmission electron microscope (TEM) shows that TiO2 nanoparticles perfectly reproduce the dendritic structure of PAMAM. The further research indicates the possible formation mechanism of TiO2 nanoparticles in PAMAM, that is, firstly TiO2 particles absorb on the intramolecular nanocavities of PAMAM due to the coordination, then the particles gradually grow on the backbone of PAMAM, and finally, the particles self-assemble a new dendritic metal framework, just like the dendritic structure of PAMAM.
