In jedem Fall ist die frühzeitige Gabe eines Thrombozytenfunktionshemmers sowohl für die Behandlung im Stadium der Claudicatio intermittens als auch bei der kritischen Extremitätenischämie angezeigt. Bei Patienten, bei denen keine operativen oder interventionellen Maßnahmen durchgeführt werden können oder bei denen es zu keiner Lumeneröffnung kommt, ist eine medikamentöse Behandlung mit Prostanoiden indiziert.
