All-optical nano logical gates based on plasmonic waveguide and Kerr grating

In the present study, five nano logical gates have been designed by means of eight rectangular Kerr nonlinear resonators in a unique plasmonic structure. All the logical gates were simulated with a single nano plasmonic composition, capitalizing on the two-dimensional Finite-Difference-Time-Domain method. The results showed that, on average, the transmission differences for the AND, NOR, OR, NAND, and XOR gates were 98%, 99%, 200%, 94%, and 96%, respectively, with a time response of 50 femtoseconds for all gates. In addition, it was found that the calculation of manufacturing tolerance can be considered as a practical method to consider the production error of logic gates. In the end, this paper provides positive outcomes for the future of computational integrated circuits in photonics.
