A procedure for calculating the heat flux and temperature distributions in a high-temperature superconductor current lead with a section connected to a cryogenic cooling machine that removes the heat released in the current lead at different levels is presented. How the purity of the copper material used for the current-lead segment influences heat fluxes is examined. © 2013 Allerton Press, Inc.
