The exploration and development of microwave absorbing materials (MAMs) are of great significance in the field of microwave absorption. In this paper, the newly ordered double-perovskite Sr2FeMoO6 (SFMO) were prepared, and the structure, magnetic, electromagnetic response behavior, and microwave absorption performance were investigated in detail. A well-crystallized and purified phase with an average size of 1.2 μm were observed. Large room-temperature magnetization and dielectric response exerts positive effects on microwave electromagnetic properties. A broadened absorption bandwidth (reflection loss, RL < − 10 dB) covering the range of 11.7–15.8 GHz at a thickness of 2.0 mm was found in the SFMO/paraffin composites, which may provide intriguing application in microwave absorption field.
