β-Chlorinated tetraaza metallocomplex of gold(III) — N,N− bis(2-aminoethyl)-3-chloro-2,4-pentanediiminatogold(III) bisperchlorate [Au(C9H18N4Cl)](ClO4)2 — has been synthesized for the first time. The complex was investigated by X-ray phase and diffraction analyses and by electron and IR spectroscopy. Monoclinic crystals, a = 10.1290(5) Å, b = 7.2163(3) Å, c = 12.8010(7) Å; β = 111.865(1)°, V = 868.37(7) Å3, Z = 2, ρ(calc) = 2.347 g/cm3, space group P21. The structure consists of virtually planar acentric cations [Au(C9H18N4Cl)]2+ and perchlorate anions [ClO4]−. The gold atom coordinates four nitrogen atoms, forming a square plane. When chlorine atoms are introduced in the β-position of the six-membered ring of the tetraaza metallocomplex, the lengths of the \documentclass[12pt]{minimal}
