In this paper, we study the boundedness, compactness and essential norm of differences of composition operators Cφ-Cψ\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$C_{\varphi }-C_{\psi }$$\end{document} on Bloch type spaces. In particular, we use the Bloch type norm of φn-ψn\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$\varphi ^n-\psi ^n$$\end{document} to characterize these.
