摘要
Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Many people worldwide have been infected and died due to the COVID-19. World Health Organization (WHO) proclaimed the COVID-19 pandemic a worldwide public health emergency on January 30, 2020. Since then, many studies have been published on this topic. In a bid to overcome this outbreak, lots of researches are being conducted in different aspects of the COVID-19 outbreak. Some studies are conducted to analyse data in the wastewater treatment plants before, during and after pandemic. This study mainly aims to investigate the latest developments in this topic. In this regard, studies on wastewater-based epidemiology, wastewater surveillance and wastewater and public health are reviewed. This review paper demonstrates the pivotal role of wastewater surveillance in understanding and managing the COVID-19 outbreak.
