Zonisamide is a new-generation, broad-spectrum antiepileptic drug (AED), which is chemically unrelated to other AEDs. In pivotal studies, zonisamide was effective as an add-on treatment for adults with partial epileptic seizures unresponsive to monotherapy or combination therapy with other AEDs. It has favourable pharmacokinetic and tolerability profiles and a low potential for drug interactions. © 2006 Adis Data Information BV. All rights reserved.
