摘要
The use of plant materials for the green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles has enormous applications in pharmaceuticals, biotechnological, and biological fields. In this paper, we report Swertia chirayita leaf extract-mediated green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs). Furthermore, the as-prepared ZnONPs were characterized by employing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), x-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-VIS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The antibacterial efficacy of green synthesized ZnONPs was investigated against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) as well as Gram-negative (Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica) bacterial strains. The efficacy of Swertia chirayita-extracted ZnONPs were found to be effective against Gram-positive as well as Gram-negative bacterial strains, suggesting its plausible use in cases of resistant bacterial infections. © 2018, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
