Augenbeteiligungen bei rheumatoider Arthritis sind häufig und können sich klinisch als Leitsymptom dieser Erkrankung präsentieren. Alle Strukturen des Sehorgans können betroffen sein. Im Vordergrund des Erkrankungsspektrums stehen jedoch Keratoconjunctivitis sicca, Episkleritis und Skleritis sowie ulzerative Keratitiden. Pathogenetisch werden – wie für die Grunderkrankung – überwiegend autoimmunologische Reaktionen bei genetischer Prädisposition des Patienten als bedeutsam angesehen. Morphologische und physiologische Besonderheiten des Auges werden zunehmend als pathogenetisch bedeutsam für die unterschiedlichen Augenmanifestationen erkannt. Ziel dieses Beitrages ist es eine Übersicht zu Klinik, Pathogenese und Therapie okulärer Beteiligung bei rheumatoider Arthritis zu bieten.
