Improving Growth, Some Biochemical Aspects and Yield of Three Cultivars of Soybean Plant by Methionine Treatment Under Sandy Soil Condition (vol 13, pg 35, 2019)

摘要
Two field experiments were carried out during two successive summer seasons to study the effect of soaking seeds of three soybean cultivars (Giza 22, Giza 35 and Giza 111) on methionine (0, 25, 50 and 75 mg/L) on some growth and biochemical attributes as well as yield quantity and quality. Results show superiority of Giza 35 cultivar in most growth parameters and biochemical attributes. Meanwhile, Giza 22 cultivar surpassed Giza 35 and Giza 111 in most yield parameters (number of pods/plant, weight of pods/plant, seed yield/plant, seed index%, seed yield, stover yield, biological yield, oil% and protein%. Whereas, Giza 111 cultivar surpassed Giza 22 and Giza 35 in plant height. Results also show the enhancing effect of methionine treatment on growth, and yield of the three tested cultivars via enhancing different studied biochemical parameters (photosynthetic pigments, IAA, phenolics, carbohydrates constituents, free amino acids and proline contents), as well as improved yield and yield attributes of the tested three cultivars, in addition to carbohydrates%, protein and oil% of the yielded seeds. 25 mg/L methionine recorded the highest yields of number and weight of pods/plant, seed yield/plant, seed yield, biological yield and harvest index%, whereas 50 mg/L methionine treatment gave the highest values of plant height, seed index%, oil% and protein%. The interaction between cultivars and different concentrations of methionine showed that 50 mg/L methionine was the most effective treatment on Giza 22 cultivar as it produced the highest increases in number of pods/plant, seed index%, weight of pods plant, seed yield/plant. © 2018, University of Tehran.
