摘要
Observations are reported on polyethylene melt in start-up shear tests with various strain rates in the interval from 1 to 8 s−1 and in shear relaxation tests with large strains at various temperatures ranging from 160 to 200 °C. Based on a concept of polymer networks with sliding constrained junctions, a constitutive model is developed for the thermo-mechanical behavior of polymer melts at finite three-dimensional deformations. Adjustable parameters in the stress–strain relations are found by fitting the experimental data. Characteristic features of the mechanical response of polymer melts in transient shear tests and oscillatory tests with small and large amplitudes are studied numerically.
