Bilateral chronic lipogranuloma of the eyelid: A rare complication after functional endoscopic sinus surgery

A 19-year-old woman presented with ptosis and yellowish swelling of both eyelids 3 months after functional endoscopic sinus surgery in which a tampon coated with Achromycin 1% as an antibiotic ointment to prevent postsurgical bleeding as well as to minimize infection was applied into her endonasal cavity for 2 days. Biopsy of the lesions revealed lipogranuloma. This occurrence is a rare event after endoscopic sinus surgery. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
