摘要
The initial stage of size refinement of Cu powder is studied using detailed X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis to understand the mechanism of formation of nanomaterials during the ball-milling process. The study was restricted to samples obtained for milling time up to 240 min to understand the deformation mechanism at the early stages of ball milling. Various model based approaches for the analysis of the XRD were used to study the evolution of the microstructural parameters such as domain size and microstrain along the different crystallographic planes. It was seen that the domain size saturates at a low value along the (311) plane whereas the size along the (220) and (200) plane is still higher. The r.m.s microstrain showed a non-monotonic change along the different crystallographic directions up to the milling time of 240 min. © 2018, The Institution of Engineers (India).
