The standard of care for localized and metastatic renal cell carcinoma includes a nephrectomy. The potential benefits for lymphadenectomy include more accurate staging, decreased risk of local recurrence, and improved survival. However, the benefits of lymph node dissection have not been proven. © 2004, Current Science Inc.
