摘要
We discuss the 5-axis high-speed machining of a hard material into a very complex shape in terms of the durability and wear resistance requirements in the aerospace and automotive industries. Whereas high-speed machines have been used in recent years to maximize productivity, they sometimes produce unnecessary finishing. By increasing the feed rate for a given cutting speed, high-efficiency processing can be achieved with simultaneous improvement in the precision of the machined surface. In this study, the high-speed cutting characteristics that affect the cutting performance were obtained through experiments and analysis of variance of data on the cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut. The design of experiments was also used to determine the optimal conditions.
