摘要
A large number of microorganisms and pathogens are carried in the ballast water of ships. With the navigation and discharge of foreign countries, harmful organisms in the ballast water are brought into the world. Based on the investigation of the current ballast water treatment technology, the photoelectricity catalysis technology was used to inactivate microorganisms in ballast water, and the mechanism of that inactivation was analyzed. The experimental results will provide theoretical basis and technical support for the establishment of efficient ballast water inactivation system in practical engineering. In addition, photoelectric catalytic technology can effectively solve the problem of ballast water treatment for ships, which is of great significance for preventing the damage of marine ecosystem and environmental pollution. © 2021, The Institution of Engineers (India).
