Induced circular dichroism on plasmon-resonance bands of gold and silver obtained by laser ablation of metal targets in aqueous solutions of natural materials

The formation of gold and silver nanoparticles during laser ablation of metal targets in aqueous solutions of amino acids (L- and D-methionines and L-cysteine) and β-cyclodextrin is experimentally investigated. A nanosecond ytterbium-doped fiber laser is used as a radiation source. Colloidal solutions of nanoparticles are investigated by optical spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and circular dichroism spectroscopy. Induced Cotton effects at plasmon resonance frequencies are found in the circular dichroism spectra of the nanoparticles generated in a β-cyclodextrin solution. These effects are due to the interaction of ligand with nanoparticles.
