摘要
The present study aims to explore ways of reusing elevator wire rope waste (EWRW) produced by elevator manufacturers. This investigation focused on the ultimate tensile strength and flexural toughness of the improved samples. The primary types of EWRW used in sample preparation are those with a fiber core (EWRW-F) or a polypropylene core (EWRW-P). The results indicated that the ultimate tensile strength of the improved EWRW-F samples outperformed the results of the EWRW-P. The results also revealed that an increase in the ultimate tensile strength of 2–15% can be achieved using EWRW. The results also showed that the flexural toughness of the improved samples increased significantly (up to 32-fold) with the use of 3% EWRW-F compared to the plain concrete. The present work establishes that the inclusion of EWRW-F can improve the tensile behavior of plain concrete.
