摘要
Diesel cars use a rotary vane vacuum pump to create negative pressure inside the brake booster. In designing a vacuum pump, it is highly critical to reduce the time required to create enough negative pressure for applying brakes a second time and the torque required to drive the pump. Therefore, in this study, we set up test equipment to measure the driving torque and time to attain the target pressure of the rotary vane vacuum pump of a brake booster. In addition, the effects of the several design variables on these parameters were analyzed: The length and depth of grooves, thickness of an outlet check valve, and number of bypass holes. Optimal values of the design variables were proposed and verified to minimize the driving torque using the Taguchi method.
