Nonlinear analytical solution for cylindrical shell deformations under asymmetric axial and transverse loads using FSDT

摘要
In this research, the displacement components of a cylindrical shell, subjected to full or partial circumferentially varying edge loads and asymmetric external pressure, are determined analytically based on the first-order shear deformation theory. The kinematic of the problem is defined by nonlinear von Karman theory, and the constitutive equations obey Hooke’s law. The governing equations, which are a system of nonlinear nonhomogeneous partial differential equations, are derived by applying the virtual work principle, and they are solved analytically by employing the perturbation technique and the Fourier series method. The presented procedure makes it possible to analyze a shell under continuous or discrete partial loads. The results are compared with the Abaqus finite elements package and the available results in the literature.
