摘要:
Commercial exploitation of a crop requires best technological knowledge and management of crop which includes standardization of planting seasons and growing conditions to give satisfactory growth and yield. The experiment was conducted in three different conditions i.e. controlled condition (Glass house), open field and under bamboo plantation to study growth behavior, yield and specific minerals composition of yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius (Poepp. &Endl.) H. Rob) in sub tropical Himalayan region. In each condition, yacon was planted in three different seasons, January (winter), April (spring) and July (summer). Growth and yield parameters of yacon performed better under bamboo plantation with significantly higher plant height (170.78 cm), number of tubers per plant (11.11), tuber yield per plant (688.89 g). Likewise, among different planting seasons, significantly higher plant height (180 cm), number of tubers per plant (11.56) and tuber yield per plant was recorded during winter season. Further, the mineral composition of yacon flour was also found higher in winter season under bamboo plantation. From present investigation, it can be concluded that cultivation under bamboo plantation during winter season is better for attaining desired growth and mass accumulation of tuberous roots with higher mineral composition. © 2022, The Author(s) under exclusive licence to Society for Plant Research.
