摘要
Maintenance of adequate nutrition is of obvious importance in the management of children with inflammatory bowel disease. Impaired food intake, reduced absorption, and increased fecal losses result in malnutrition. These negative consequences are especially unfavorable for children because the poor nutritional status will not only affect their well-being and quality of life, but will also lead to growth failure. Nutrition as the primary therapy using exclusively elemental or polymeric formulas shows a better benefit/risk ratio than systemic corticosteroid therapy. It should always be the first choice in the growing child with Crohn's disease Pharmaco-nutritional therapy and an optimized formula may even improve the efficacy of the therapeutic option.
