摘要
Pr3+ doped bismuth borate glass samples were prepared by melt quenching method with the chemical composition (45- x) Bi2O3: 10ZnO: 10Li(2)O: 10WO(3): 10Na(2)O: 10CaO: 15B(2)O(3) :xPr(2)O(3) (where x = 1,1.5.2 mol%).The glassy nature of the prepared glass samples was confirmed by X-ray diffraction patterns. The FTIR spectra shows that the existence of different functional and structural groups of glasses, such as BO3 and BO4. The values of Urbach energy and optical energy band gap were determined by Mott-Davis relation. The absorption, transmittance and reflectance spectra of glasses were recorded in the wavelength range 450-900 nm. The optical energy band gap for direct and indirect were found to be range 2.54-2.52 eV and 2.48-2.38 eV respectively. The values of Urbach's energy lies between 0.1860 and 0.3590 eV. The physical properties like density, average molecular weight, molar volume filed strength, ion concentration, polaron radius, oxygen packing density, interionic distance, optical basicity were calculated using appropriate formulae. The resulted indicated that Pr3+ doped bismuth borate glasses has potential applications for optical and photonic applications.
