One-Pot Technique for Production of Oleanolic Acid from the Roots of Aralia Mandshurica with Subcritical Water

Abstract—This work presents the development of a one-pot technique for producing oleanolic acid (OA) from the roots of Aralia mandshurica Rupr., using subcritical water (SBW). For the first time, SBW, which serves as a reactant and a solvent, has been used to obtain a good yield of OA from the roots of A. mandshurica. This method of obtaining OA allows the use of toxic organic solvents to be avoided. Good yields for the targeted OA can be obtained in relation to the time period, 16 times shorter than that needed for traditional procedures.
