Synthesis of new phenylcarbamoylbenzoic acid derivatives and evaluation of their in vitro antioxidant activity

In this study, new derivatives of phenylcarbamoylbenzoic acid were synthesized and evaluated for their in vitro antioxidant activity. The target compounds were prepared by bonding pharmacophoric moieties possessing antioxidant activity, including hydrazones, acid hydrazides, imino, Schiff’s bases, and phthalimides with phenylcarbamoylbenzoic acid via simple and efficient synthetic strategies. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by physical and spectral data. The in vitro antioxidant activity was carried out using ABTS antioxidant assay. All the tested compounds showed low antioxidant activity except compound 7, which showed moderate antioxidant activity compared with ascorbic acid.
