Unitons of the group U(p,q) defined on a simply-connected region Ω ⊂ R2 are considered. By using Darboux transformation and its renormalization, we design a purely algebraic algorithm by which new extended U(p,q) unitons can be constructed from a known one. It is proved that all extended U(p,q) unitons (and, hence, U(p,q) unitons) can be constructed via the algorithm.
