A report on the XVI International Congress of the International Federation of Automatic control (IFAC), held in Prague Palace of Congresses, Czech Republic, from July 4-8, 2006, is presented. The subjects of congress was divided into three general areas, such as theory, technologies, and applications with some research focusing on control processes with the information, communication, and computation process. Due to the industrial recession, the national theorists who were at at the frontiers of the control theory are not always familiar with the needs of the high-tech applications. The international modern theory and practice of automatic control were discussed to strengthen the scientific relations of members.
