摘要
A method for estimating thermodynamic parameters of adsorption of a surface-active substance (SAS) from an aqueous electrolyte solution on a metal is proposed on the basis of Bockris' equation taking into account the activity coefficients of the organic compound. The method enables one to calculate the thermodynamic functions related both to the bulk characteristics of the aqueous SAS solution and the properties of the surface layer at the metal–solution boundary. The feasibility of the method is illustrated by the thermodynamic analysis of the experimental data on the adsorbability of tertiary butyl alcohol on an uncharged surface of mercury.
