摘要
A refined method of analyzing horizontally loaded supports in accordance with the familiar simplified scheme that assumes a constant limiting lateral soil resistance over depth, and the existence of a zone of local uplift with zero resistance at the surface is examined. The novelty consists in the fact that an analytical relationship derived by the authors, which accounts for both the geometric dimensions of the support, and also characteristics of the soil, is introduced to the analysis in lieu of empirical formulas for determination of the depth of this zone. Data of comparative analyses are cited. © 2004 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
