摘要
The regularities of the anodic passivation of metallic nickel in dilute solutions of sulfuric acid (100 g/L) at 20°C are studied by physicochemical methods. In the range of changing the polarization potential from 0.25 to 0.34 V, nickel is completely passivated to a limiting current of 2-3 mA. The effect of nickel electrode passivation is shown by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to be related to the oxidation of nickel to the trivalent state (Ni3+) accompanied by the formation of a metal/electrolyte interface on the reaction surface. The interface blocks the reaction surface with a film of nickel hydrosulfate Ni4(OH)10SO4, which is almost insoluble in sulfuric acid in the considered range of polarization potentials of the metal. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
